I would be tempted to add a little glitter or gold paint to them. Weird tree but very cool!
We called them "monkey balls" as kids. Kind of makes you glad you're not a monkey, eh?
That's a great photo.
They are sycamore trees, I believe. A nightmare when you park under them - they drop those spiky balls all over your paint job.
