swedish spice

in the "better late than never" category, I am posting the shot of E rockin' two things I brought her from Sweden - a swimming suit and rain boots.  Together, of course.

we didn't even make it past the appetizer section of the menu

... and I think you can see why. yummers.

secrets

redundant with FB, but whatever.  I like it.  (Ephraim is telling Elsa a secret.)

dinner at L'appart with Jennie - yum!

if you don't know how to spell it...

just leave the vowels out, apparently.
I'm pretty sure this says Prtr.  Right?

mothers day dress and safe places for mercurial 2-year-olds

This is a dress given to Elsa by her Gamma some time ago - brought home from Paris.  It has been too big for a long time but today we tried it on and it just about fits!  So exciting.

Elsa got to wear it out to breakfast with Oma, which made her very happy.  Bfast was OK but Elsa's sometimes unpredictable cranky side came out, which really stresses me out.  Oma very kindly offered to have us over to her house once it was clear that Elsa was not fit for public exposure. Not sure how restful it was for Oma, but it was really really appreciated by me!

Elsa's favorite place to be.

back in business

Still can't find my point and shoot, but my new blackberry arrived and the camera (and flash!) works like a charm.

04/25: more of that hair

On Sundays we do the big hair thing...  undo the current 'do - which can take a while - then suffer through the washing and conditioning and (ouchie) the comb-out, and then do up a new arrangement.  I usually give Elsa a break between the taking out of the old and the bath.  So she gets to rock some wild hair for a few hours.

04/07: the gallery

this is my office, which is "internal", which is a nice way of saying it's dark as hell and has no natural light.  Also, the furnishings are black and grey and that awesome institutional beige.  So I decided to start livening up the joint with some of Elsa's art.  I think I'll be able to fill the wall pretty soon...

3/18: Katrina

Had a lovely surprise when this morning I talked with my friend Katrina, and coincidentally had my lunch hour open up.  So we hastily arranged lunch - it was great to see her.  We talked about boys, life, boys, work, boys, kids, and also boys.

I can't divulge the specific content, but above is the official photographic record of a solemn pledge made by Katrina during lunch with respect to... boys. :-)

3/16: home. sick kid.

I'm fine - but Elsa is not.
Poor kiddo.
(and yeah, that's the white board in my kitchen.  my mom, who took Elsa to the doctor for me this morning, wrote down EVERYTHING I need to know. I love it!)

3/12: more rain

I am OVER IT.  And this is my impressionist photo for the day, by the way, which is code for too-lazy-to-take-a-real-shot, and so I took this out the window on my mid-day drive.

3/9: bright and cold

It is a cold crispy morning in San Francisco.

3/6: roller derby

Had a truly, um.... unique evening last night.

Went out with a bunch of girls to go see the Richmond Wrecking Belles take on the Sac City Rollers.   We were cheering on the local team (the Wrecking Belles), who beat the crap out of the Rollers, of course.  Have you ever actually gone to a roller derby game?  Holy frickin bajeezzus.  Kinda wild.  But very very fun...

Pictures below were from my friends' iphones, not mine...

3/3: weird-ass tree

this tree (of which there are MANY in the landscaping at my office) has spikey pod things hanging down all over - like little christmas tree ornaments.  weird.

3/2: the ride home

The uneaten sandwich (from her lunchbox) is devoured on the way home... somehow this does not interrupt the ongoing monologue.  I am particularly loving the pinkie action.

3/1: how not surprising

As you may know, this is not a new phenomenon.  My favorite part about this morning's name mangling:  she asked me how to spell it, and then wrote this.

2/28: coif

I did the necessary maintenance on this head of hair of mine, something I do every 10 to 12 weeks...  oy, what a process it is.The photo above shows my rockin' stylist, Cindy (the blonde) and her assistant Shiva, working on the woman whose appointment was before mine.

Below is yours truly, mid-highlight.  yikes.
